We drew week 1 this year. Just pulled out the driveway heading to Illinois until next Wednesday. Think this makes year 7 in a row. Weather looks good for the weekend lows in the 30s

Pulled in the lodge at 1 pm after stopping at the scheels and Walmart. Unpacked and then started riding the roads. First afternoon evening ride and scout was a total of 64 deer in the fields. Parking lots pretty empty. Hanging stands this morning for a few guys in the group and doing a little scouting. Plan to make my first sit this evening in the same tree I started the last 4 years opening hunt. Almost the tree I shot my first buck up here in.

Awesome. I’ve been there for a dog event and saw a ton of deer.
Also stayed in the lodge nearby. The owner of the lodge told us about several groups of Louisiana people that come stay nearly every year. Sounds like you’re one of them.
Good luck! If you need a dog I have a couple of friends in Ashland with some fine blood tracking dogs.

That’s Mr. Richard. It’s the only place we stay. He has become family. I visit him during the summer and we fish the lakes in his boat. Great lodge. Best sleep ever without windows in the rooms.

Drive the fields 1 more evening before we hunt in the morning. 85 total 7 shooter bucks. Temp dropping this evening.
