3 deer max. Some good deer here and there but not that great. 1:15 from home.

3 options with a deer lease. I find this to hold true 10000% of the time. Good, close, cheap. But you can only ever have two. Good and cheap isn't close. Good and close isn't cheap. Cheap and close isn't good.

That’s a very accurate and efficient summary.
ETA: I hunt in area 4

I figured. i am young and want to eventually get into a club up in meridian area or west alabama one day or hell maybe even natchez area (if i really make it big in my career) when im older and have progressed in my career.

Currently in MS (we still hunt but neighbors dog hunt) and driving 2.5 hours to a place with dog hunters shooting everything and paying a $400 out of state license. I can rant about the out of state MS deer license for hours but i dont wanna open that can of worms again. it just aint cutting it anymore.

I have seen some of the deer taken in that area. Yea its not like avoyelles ,concordia, or tensas but they have some decent deer with good genetics. A lot better than where i am currently at.

Those deer are from specific pockets in area 4. There are some broad areas with some not so good genetics.

I will say things are improving though. The quality of deer now is better than it was 20 years ago.

The two areas you referred to, though upper and center East Fel is better than upper St. Helena.

Your pretty much trying to stay between Jackson and Norwood

thats it.

I dont care if its in pine grove, jackson, norwood, wherever. Somewhere close with not as much pressure where i am at will suffice and not paying that god for saken non resident MS license.

a frickin NR license in MO is cheaper than a NR MS license and MO has way bigger deer.

But the tradeoff is that LA deer management is garbage without DMAP so i guess youre getting what youre paying for

You obviously haven’t hunted MS west of 61.
