Oversized screen for outboard water intake

I have to bust through two hundred yards of water lilys to get to my sac a lait hole. I just clean a hole out with my pitchfork to drop my hook when I get there.
The water lily roots (hairs) get caught in my intake and I have to clean it often.
Do y’all know of an ear muff type screen to clamp over the intake when needed ? I searched but can’t find such a thing.
If I can’t find one I have a good fabricator and we might just go to the drawing board Monday morning.
