Cheesecake vs. Mini Cheesecakes question

I make a damn good cheesecake - several different varieties.
I'd like to make some mini cheesecakes (the mini cupcake size) that can be picked up and eaten as finger desserts. Anyone have experience with making them?
Can I just take a regular cheesecake recipe that I'm familiar with and use a mini cupcake pan and bake them for a shorter time?

Another option is to bake it on a sheet pan and cut it into you desired shape and size. This is a lot easier and more efficient.
