Good Boudin near I-49

I'll be making the journey to Shreveport this afternoon and was wondering if there are any good places to stop for boudin along the way that are open on a Sunday and dont involve venturing too far from I-49?? If not open today, i guess i will just catch them on the way back home Monday. I have heard good things about Ray's Grocery in Opelousas...

billy's (gas station) in krotz springs on 190 has good boudin balls. I bring on ice chest with me when I go to and from Shreveport and load up on items at Bourques and other cajun places... they have really good deer sausage, and the jalapeno sausage cheese bread is awesome.
Go the speed limits on 190 and watch for traps in Washington, before Nachitoches (in the trees) and Mansfield.

We drove there last Saturday specifically for boudin. Bought 4 pounds of the fresh stuff. I want to try the smoked version. Acadiana hosts a dying institution, the mom and pop grocery. It's like going back in time. Just don't walk into one in that area and ask how to get to someone else's store. You will hear something like,
"T-Boy's? You want to go to T-Boy's? T-Boys boudin is shite. If you want good boudin, you gotta go to..."
Lots of places to choose from, lots of good food in that region of the state.

I agree. The best boudin balls I've ever eaten all came from gas stations. The BR to Shreveport drive SUCKS, but boudin balls always make it a little more bearable.

dont stop at the rays on 190. thats the old rays building that billy bought and turned to crap. go to this rays. this is the guy that originally opened rays and later sold to billy's. he opened back up and the boudin is the shite again.

plus the old one is in the middle of the hood pretty much and is full of crackheads and the workers are grungy looking. the place is nasty looking(and smelling). the one reopened by the original owner is nice and clean, the owner and a couple of little old ladies work the counter. its on the outskirts of town so no crackheads.
