Where is the best place to launch to fish the west pearl. Going to be in the area a lot this spring.

W. Pearl is a long stretch. Depends if you're wanting to fish the south portion along hwy. 90 or north towards Lock 3/Lock 1
If youre wanting to fish south portion you can launch on Hwy. 90 near Alligator Tours . Stennis has a launch as well as the one by the plant south of Hwy. 90. on the East side and you can run up.
If youre wanting to fish the north side near the weir, you can launch at Lock 1 fishermans landing, or under the overpass on interstate 59 north of pearl river.
If youre more looking to fish the marsh area, i would say launch at Rigoletes Marina on Hwy. 90.
Can also launch at Davis Island which is north of hwy. 90 bridge

Looking for freshwater species mostly so I guess lock 1 would be the ticket.

We launch at Crawford landing near honey island swamp tours to go on the river and hangout at sand bars. Always plenty of fishing boats there. One of my favorite things to do during summer is load up the boat with chairs, coolers, sand toys and rafts in my swim suit and hat in front of all the tourists there to see alligators. They look at me and the family in disbelief and frequently take pics of us LOL.

you can catch freshwater fish at any of those launches.
Personally, for numbers wise (if going for channel cat) is to launch at Hwy. 90 bridge and fish right down river tight lining.
If you're looking for bass, that same area is loaded with bass in spring time, you just have to punch the cane similair to fishing venice.
Upriver also has good fishing, which is were we fish our set hooks/ "limb lines" in the spring.
Not sure where you're located, but any of those launches should work for you.

They just recently dredged out the mouth where Lock 1 canal meets the Pearl, so that's great. In recent years you had to get out the boat and walk it thru the mouth because there was only a few inches of water.
The west Pearl is horribly silted in north of I-10. Stick to the outside in all the curves and bends or risk hitting bottom and even in some curves and bends it's silted in. It's bad. Stay on a plane!
