Looking for a local lender for a boat loan. Caveat; I'm purchasing from an Individual in Texas. Neighbors approved me then said they couldn't do it if I am buying from an individual out of state for some reason..... said something to do with Texas WLF and having to be present and notarized, blah, blah..... I told them I'd take care of all the WLF stuff..... Anyone run into this or have any suggestions?
Bad part, Neighbors had a very competitive rate that I don't know if anyone will match or beat.

Buying a boat in Texas can be a problem. Get 3x notorized originals of both boat and trailer sales. Proof of sales tax paid on both is important.
I did it. Took a whole day of driving back and forth to state and parish assessors offices paying taxes and shite. I think I actually only needed 2x notorized originals for the trailer and 1 for the boat, but I had 3 of each just in case. It may vary by parish. Texas doesn't title trailers and the trailer is the biggest problem.
As for the loan, your best option is going to be a personal loan, and the terms will suck. Just what it is. I did mine with lightstream which was super easy, but high rate and not a good idea unless you plan to pay it off quickly or not borrow much.

If you need to get into debt to buy a non essential item, then maybe you can’t afford that item?

Get the hell outta here with that bullshite. This is the OB.
If he asks us how to borrow $800k for a freeman that he's going to park in a shitty old barn behind his single wide, we oughta give the man some damned advice on how to aquire 800k.

Not prying into your business by asking the price you're paying, but if it isnt a big amount, ask your local bank to make you a personal loan. Local where you have a checking or savings account. Then you are not needing serial numbers, bill of sale. Titles, etc for the bank. You'll need all that to register everything in La with the LDWF though. I bought a used BassTracker but it was already in Louisiana, but I did it with a personal loan from my bank.

Good luck getting a loan on a personal sale from out of state. Banks don’t like that at all. Not saying it’s impossible, but it’s damn close. You may be better off trying to get a signature loan outside of a boat loan.
