Well how was your experience with Omaha? Let's hear about it.

This was my first year. Rocco’s is overrated and the Jell-O shots tasted horrible, but I can say been there don’t that. Ate at The Mattress Company Saturday for lunch, pretty solid. We went to Blatt’s before Sunday’s. Pretty great atmosphere. Sunday night we went to the Drover steak house, I would highly recommend the Drover to anyone. Overall, it was a great trip and I hope to go again.

Yes it was.
Weird way of going about it. I was giving my daughter a plane/road trip for her master's degree graduation. Monday the 9th, she came up with a wacky itinerary that involved a road trip from Minnesota to Kansas City, and being in Omaha for one day this past weekend. As she put it, even if LSU was not in it, she just wanted to check out "the vibe" there. She's also a bit of a nerd like me and is trying to get all 50 states as I did last year. So, we made the flight, rental car and hotel arrangements-- Friday night to Monday night.
Of course, LSU won all of their games and punched their ticket to the finals. I picked up tickets online for the Sunday game the following morning after the 2nd Arkansas win. We had to leave Minneapolis at 6:00 AM Sunday to drive down, but made it with time to spare. Got our jello shots at Rocco's (yucky, terrible shots, worst I've ever had) before the game and were in our seats before the national anthem.
(that's a 1991 National Champs cap on my head, from our first one under Skip-- been having that since I was 26 yrs. old. Someone in the stands offered me $100 for it)
The set-up and stadium itself was really nice; the biggest problem was the unprecedented heat and beating sun. We soldiered on, though. LSU fans probably outnumbered CCU fans 8 to 1, and it was fun to be sitting with the fans, who were very friendly and funny while being just a little rowdy. We were all part of the big LSU family.
We all went wild when we won, people shooting beer and spraying water everywhere. Daughter and I stayed to watch the trophy being walked around, etc. but that was about it. I had been to Omaha before but the daughter hadn't, so we drove around a bit and saw some stuff; went across the river to Council Bluffs for a celebratory steak dinner and cocktails (saw other LSU fans there), then drove down to our hotel room 45 mins south in Nebraska City, where there were other LSU fans there already relaxing in the pool. We also saw lots of LSU fans in the Kansas City Airport when we flew out.
