Sounds like it's touch and go. Prayers for Dave and his family. Great songwriter/musician and a great person.

Dave Edmunds, the singer-guitarist best-known for the 1970 hit “I Hear You Knockin’” and later as a member of Rockpile with Nick Lowe, has suffered a “major cardiac arrest,” according to a post his wife shared on Facebook.

“Dave Edmunds. My beloved husband of 40 years has had a major cardiac arrest,” wrote Cici Edmunds in a post on Facebook early Tuesday, July 29.

Cici went on the say Dave Edmunds “died in my arms while I desperately tried to keep him alive while trying to clear his airways from all of the fluids that come out of a human beings body when we pass away.”

That part of the post led some to believe that Edmunds, 81, had died, but Cici later added that her nurse was able to perform CPR on Edmunds, who apparently is in intensive care at a hospital.

I try not to judge people words and action in tragic situations but this is a strange detail to add. Publicly.

Here’s hoping Dave fully recovers and gets to feeling better. He gets played regularly in my music rotation.

Dave has always genuflected at the alter of Chuck Berry. I’ll offer up Dave covering a relatively obscure Chuck song.

I saw he and his band perform this number at Solomon Alfred’s in Memphis, 1982.

I loved the sound of Rockpile and Nick Lowe. We had the good pleasure of seeing them warm up Blondie at The Fox Theatre in Detroit around '81.

Somebody once described Dave's career as an attempt to combine the fresh spark of Sun Studios with the polish of Phil Spector/Brill Building

That sucks. I love Dave Edmunds.
I know he was very into fitness/jogging at one point, but he is 81.
