Calf muscle pull

Pulled the right calf muscle about 1.5 years ago. Enough to where I limped a few days and had to take it easy. Stopped running until it stopped hurting. Recently I "popped" (how it felt) it just a little, it was just a little tender though. Lots of stretching, and it didn't hurt when I ran so I ran. So just now I go to hop up some stairs and it definitely tweaked or pulled or something. If it's a pulled muscle, fine, I'll take it easy...but I'm 46 so maybe a dumb question - I know the achilles basically goes from calf and all the way under the foot to the fascia - if I'm feeling the pain mid-calf it's not an achilles issue, right? Just muscle probably? I really don't want to pop the achilles, so I'll be extra careful if that is a risk.

Hard to tell without getting it checked, but you are definitely showing the warning signs of a potential future tear.
I’d stop running and stop aggressively stretching. Focus on self myofascial release and strengthening your calves AND shins. Knees Over Toes Guy has some good stuff for this that will benefit you as you age and help with starting back running.

I've been dealing with a calf strain/pull for the past month. I went to see a PT and he said I had a good sized knot in the calf which he worked out with dry needling, scraping and a series of stretches. I have been able to run since then but I definitely notice tweaks here and there. One long run a few weeks ago I had to stop and the calf was really tweaking and it affected my gait/stride. I'm 45 and have tried to incorporate more stretching before and after runs.
I think you'll get some good advice here from other posters, and of course there will be the dumbasses who will claim everything will be ok if you lift massive amounts of weights and become a gym bro - like they did in the thread I previously started.
Go see as PT and have them evaluate.

A knot might be a good way to describe how it feels. Definitely not as sharp as yesterday. I'm not stretching it while it hurts, but I'm moving around some to keep it loose. I need to search for some calf PT to build it back up once the pain is gone. I do plenty of leg work. The two times I've tweaked it are doing a random, quick movement, not running or weights.
