Looking for anyone who may have had experience with the Super Recycler with the cast aluminum deck. I currently have a 11 year old Toro with the stamped deck that has started rusting out . I've explored options of just putting the motor on another deck, however by that point I'm close enough in price to justify the price of the new mower. Any info is appreciated.

Just got one. It's a well built machine and feels lighter than my old one. I can't give you any real performance review cause I didn't really cut any tall grass yet.

Looked at them but if you get the base model it's the 163cc engine and it's a lousy engine for how much you'll spend. The other two models at least have the 190cc B&S but they are still very expensive for what you get. If I had to replace my Honda right now, I think I'd get the Echo walk-behind, same 190cc engine and a steel deck but it's a heavier duty machine all around and still get a 5-year residential warranty as the Toro but spend a bit less.

ETA: Stihl has gas walk-behinds now, might be worth checking out if you are looking into the upper-end scale of these things.

The Recycler Max might be a better value. Same with the Echo w/ the 190cc B&S engine unless you’re dead set on the cast aluminum deck.

I'll look into the ECHO as well. I am pushing to cast aluminum because the stamped Steel on my existing toro rusted out. Was hoping to get more life out of the cast aluminum deck. The B&S still starts on the first crank after 11 years, so I have faith the engine will last.

The recycler max actually advertises an aluminum deck on Lowe’s website.

Your yard full of clover? My Honda HRN is on its 10th season, steel deck, and barely even surface rust under the deck. I try not to mow when the grass is any kind of damp and if there's a bit a clover I'll spray off the underside. I spray it with a coating of corrosion inhibitor after I set it up for storage at the end of each season too.

One of my mistakes was not doing that annually. I do wash the deck almost every cut, and certainly when it’s damp. A few websites mention fertilizer eats up the deck as well not sure if that is true.

Definitely true, fertilizers use ammonia and potassium chloride which are very corrosive to steel. Eats aluminum too so a cast aluminum mower deck won't last long if you are mowing with fertilizer down. I use a lanolin-based corrosion inhibitor spray, started using it on my truck when I move to PA to keep road salt from rusting stuff for the few years I was there. Worked very well so I keep finding uses for it.
