To the author, stay safe.

The facts:

quote:

In 2025, Yale professors made 1,099 donations to federal political campaigns and partisan groups reflected in fundraising disclosures. Not one of the recipients was Republican.

The News analyzed data from more than 7,000 Federal Election Commission filings from 2025 for which the employer was listed as Yale. Of 1,099 filings that included “professor” in their occupation, 97.6 percent of the donations went to Democrats, while the remaining 2.4 percent went to independent candidates or groups.

This data is consistent with conservative criticism that university professors are not representative of the country’s political spread — one rationale used by the Trump administration for its threats to universities’ funding in the past year.

The lie:

Professors who donated to Democrats in 2025 described this overwhelming tilt as an unsurprising result of a Republican administration’s assault on elite higher education, including pressures on research and certain academic departments, slashes to research funding and an increased tax on endowment investment returns that has led to a series of budget cuts.

“Professors tend to support political parties and policies that align with their interests, such as open research, institutional autonomy, and financial aid,” Italian Studies senior lector Michael Farina, who donated three times to a Democratic candidate in 2025, wrote in an email to the News.

“If the Republican Party evolved to support policies like those, more faculty would be financially supportive of Republicans, but, instead, the Republican Party just cut Yale’s budget by $300 million annually,” he added, referring to the projected cost of the endowment tax hike that will go into effect this year.

The Truth:

quote:

In January 2024 — one year before President Donald Trump’s second term began — the News reported that 98.4 percent of Yale professors’ donations in 2023 were directed to Democratic candidates and groups.

What side is responsible for the dumbing down of education?

Republicans suck but democrats are fricking evil.

If that was any other category Yale would be doing everything possible to recruit members of such an underrepresented part of society.

Oh, boo hoo! They're a for profit hedge fund no matter how much they pretend otherwise.

Plus didn't the blue state of Connecticut also start taxing their endowment?
