A local natural area is gone and now we have a dealership that sells Korean cars

I am supposed to be happy about this right? ‘Growth’ and ‘Progress’ is always a good thing is what I have been led to believe.
But how do I personally benefit to a level where I can support such decisions? I’m not in the market for a Kia so that’s out.
Local government gets more taxes? Oddly when they have surpluses they only spend more, never refund any money to residents. Plus I don’t like government.
A unique wooded location (for the area) is gone, all the wildlife that lived there is now probably dead, and I’m supposed to think this is a good thing?

There used to be a natural area where you house is - same for the grocery store and gas station you visit.
