Stanfield/Simpson

Is Stanfield automatically back in the lineup when he gets healthy? Simpson has looked strong. Stanfield much more experience playing in this league, but Simpson raked in mid-major last year. Much more potential for power too.

Uhhhh yeah Stanfield is automatically back
I like Simpson and he needs to stay involved
Stanfield was LSU’s leading hitter in SEC games in 2025 and defensively is a major upgrade over Simpson in LF

No doubt. But with Curiel in CF and Brown in RF you may end up in a position where you forgo a little defense for more pop in the lineup. Think depending on how Simpson looks early on in SEC and what the lineup needs (a contact/speed guy or a bat with more pop).

Simpson will slide to 2B and Dar Dar will DH

Yes, without question

I still think Stanfield will contribute to more run production than Simpson
We have pop in the lineup, and we haven’t seen anything to convince me that Simpson has more pop than Stanfield.

Can't take Braun out of DH until he gives you a reason to. Dardar has been good too. Think the most likely way to keep Simpson in there is to platoon him with Dardar at second -- Dardar w/ RHP on the mound Simpson w LHP.

Can’t afford to let Dar Dar kick the ball around at 2nd much longer

Yep agree but i would go whoever sits its not automatic that they would be the DH. If Serna catches i expect Bide to be the DH mixed in with Pearson to get some AB's somewhere

Yeah agreed. My prediction is someone between Dardar/Simpson/Braun will emerge as a must-start every game and the other two will split more time.

Your reply makes no sense. You’re willing to give up a 300+ ba for a guy that might “ pop” one every so often?

Jay knows what he’s getting with Stanfield and that’s a player that contributes to winning. Simpson will find playing time, but Stanfield does a lot of little things that contribute to winning as cliche as it may sound. He’s in your lineup as long as he’s healthy

Going off the assumption Simpson will be 300+ or close to that. .389 w/ 22 hr last year. Not saying he plays over Stanfield, saying its a consideration.

Simpson should start at 2nd and let Dardar/Braun platoon with Pearson at DH. Dardar walks a lot but is now below .300 against weak pitching.

That’s not against sec pitching. Not a good reason to play him first because he did well in some podunk conference. Stanfield has proven himself in the toughest conference in college baseball

Braun too good to not be in the lineup against RHP right now in my opinion.

I agree not a good reason to play him first -- but doesn't mean he couldn't be a better offensive option. We take guys from small conferences that emerge as studs all the time. Dickinson, Yorke, Hernandez all in the last two seasons alone.
