I stepped through a rotten board on a trailer and landed under my right arm on the trailer's contents. hurt like hell. after a day i think i may have cracked a rib. after looking online it seems ribs heal quickly, and not much can be done other than let it heal. i see no benefit from going to the doc to get an xray or anything else. anyone have experience with this? any tips?

A couple of things.

Get it checked out. An X-ray at the very least. It might be out of place and have to be set. You don't want it healing improperly.

Bones take about 6 weeks to heal.

Ribs actually take a long time to heal back to 100%. It'll be a nagging injury for awhile if it is broken. I've maybe come across a couple of people who have had quick recoveries from a broken rib. The majority of the time it'll seem like it takes forever to heal.

Hope this helps

Get it checked out anyway just in case. At the very least get some pain meds to help.

I took a tumble during a sprint exercise last year and didn't find out from an unrelated scan until like 2 months later that I had broken a rib. My experience was the pain sort of just went away over time and I stopped thinking about it, but it was awhile.

that is not my experience. I strained a rib a couple years ago and I think it hurt to get out of bed for damn near 4 weeks
