Flying to Athens Thursday (currently?) to start a Viking Cruise that goes up the Adriatic Coast, then disembarks in Venice. Flying to Bosnia thereafter for a week. Politics aside, doesn't seem like a great time to go with what's going on in the Middle East. Bosnia having a significant Muslim population. Can't say we aren't thinking about it all right now. How Americans will be viewed. Random attacks.

Still plan on going.

But, point being we can at least get the latest Travel Advisories if we enroll.

Bosnia is one of the last places I'd worry about this; tourist traps and petty thieves in Western Europe are a bigger concern. Jews and Muslims have been living together there (Bosnia) for over 500 years. Stay away from talking about Serbia and probably Russia, and just concentrate on getting to know the Bosnian people.

societies goes back as far as the first Muslim community in

I am not going to Bosnia but I am taking that exact same Viking cruise in April.
Have fun and please give us a report.

The only extra excursion I signed up for is the one where you climb up to the Acropolis. Other than that I signed up for all the free ones.

You do realize the IRGC just attached Greek Cyprus, right? (I still wouldn't worry, they'll be out of proverbial ammo soon. Hopefully by March 7th, lol.)

Yeah, I saw that. Strikes against the British RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus, not against the Republic of Cyprus itself. And Greece sent frigates and F-16s to Cyprus after the drone strike on the British base. A defensive move focused on airspace security, and there’s no impact on civilian areas or travel currently.

You'd assume Greece and surrounding countries aren't targets, but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be some terrorist attacks. All inconveniences for me given what's happening in the world but certainly wish it wasn't happening and gets resolved. I'm still going but keeping an eye out on the events and waiting to hear if Viking redirects or air somehow.

If you profile people in Europe, it's pretty easy to stay out of trouble. Even when there is nothing specific going on, I choose where to sit in outdoor cafes based on where the bollards are, don't put my back to major foot traffic areas, etc.

In heavy tourist areas like a lot of where you're going to, I will use a Pac Safe backpack with wire in the fabric so it can't be cut, with TSA locks when it's closed.

Yep. Empires of the Mediterranean.
That’s me.
We embark on Saturday April, 18 but we are staying on Hydra for a few days before and staying in Venice for a couple of days after.

FYI, got back a generic type message...

Thank you for your message to U.S. Embassy Sarajevo.

Following the launch of U.S. combat operations in Iran, Americans worldwide and especially in the Middle East should follow the guidance in the latest security alerts issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. They may experience travel disruptions due to periodic airspace closures. U.S. citizens are strongly encouraged to monitor U.S. Embassy Sarajevo’s web page LINK where we post all security messages that the Embassy occasionally sends to U.S. citizens in BiH.

The Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution. Enroll at LINK to receive the latest security alerts and follow the “U.S. Department of State - Security Updates for U.S. Citizens” channel on WhatsApp. When planning travel, read carefully our Travel Advisory, country information, and any recent alerts at LINK

We hope this information is helpful to you.

Best regards,
