I hate war. I don't like war. But by gawd, I support a pre-emptive rain of missiles on civilians without any coherent plan for success.
When does it end? When we finally have to stumble back from this Iran idiocy, where does the American war machine turn next?

He also discussed references in The Bible about fighting evil, after the Pope said God does not bless people for starting wars (paraphrased).

It's important to put these fires out before they spread. Iran was long overdue. Past presidents said so, but lacked the political will to do something about it. The American war machine? We have a lethal military for the purpose of carrying a big stick on the world stage to avoid having to deal with evil dictators of the world. It's a deterrent. We don't want to be in a position where the military is weakened.

Sometimes I wonder how the hell people like you survive- work, have a family, drive, eat and even remember to wipe your arse with the amount of insanity that goes through your mind out your fingers to a keyboard

The Catholics murdered millions to establish their religion. Do you want to hear how they treat the altar boys?
GOD, REASON, and Going to WAR.
quote:
The first requirement in the Summa for a just war is not a papal endorsement but: ‘The authority of a princeps, by whose command the war is to be waged’ – i.e. a legitimate authority on whose orders war is to be waged.
The second test questions whether the target is deserving of the military action proposed against them: force can only be used ‘because they are guilty of some act of culpable aggression’. The level of proof of the Syrian regime’s guilt of the atrocities for which they were being blamed was raised in the House. [13] There are issues over the provision of information for the PCRC to ponder. It is of course necessary that action be proportionate to the offence committed.
The third criterion is actually that the intention of those waging war must be recta (‘straight’ or ‘right’), either to achieve good or to prevent evil. St Thomas quotes St Augustine to warn against certain specific examples of a bad motive – for example, the desire for gain or to inflict cruelty. MPs did consider intention, but there was in this case little evidence of any impropriety.
GOD, REASON, and Going to WAR.

What does that have to do with my post, Catholics, or Franklin Graham (who is Evangelical, not Catholic?

It has everything to do with your post. Does the pope believe GOD blesses his subordinates for the peccadilloes? Thomas Aquinas certainly understands the The Holy Bible as well as any pope who has ever lived, don't ya think?

I agree with his statement. All war is due to sin, but sometimes conflict is necessary and moral for restraining evil.
