Hopefully, this was on purpose.

Coming to America was good though.

I used to love Eddie Murphy. I think he could have been the greatest entertainer of all time. No one has pissed more talent away than that cocksucker. God, he fricking pisses me off.

no denying "delirious" is the best standup of all-time

then I take it your either an complete idiot or too young to remember a person by the name of Richard Pryor, who Murphy learned his routine from and pales in comparison next too him.

hey tubucock frickING DUH
pryor helped paved the way for every black comedian following him but does that mean his standups are better?? every one of his standups are better than those of chris rock? dave chappelle? is that your argument?
while we're on the subject...Kill The Messenger by chris rock may be his best standup yet...i strongly encourage anyone with HBO to give it a look

I'm a huge fan of Delirious and Raw. That being said...
Richard Pryor > Eddie Murphy

What is it with raw, hardcore black entertainers going soft?
Richard Pryor - he has an excuse....he had to shape up or he would have died
Eddie Murphy - "Raw" to "Daddy Day Care"
Chris Rock - all his standup is now about raising kids
Ice-T - from "Cop Killer" to "I play a cop on SVU"
Ice Cube - former member of N.W.A now making children's movies?

It's called adapting and staying relevant.
And making a piss ton of cash.

Same reason why hardcore rappers make sing-songy tracks for 14 year old girls. That's where the money is.
I think it sucks when comedians go that route, but ultimately I can't complain about how the next man chooses to feed his kids.

No doubt Pryor is great, but in my lifetime, only two stand-up comedians have achieved true "rock star" status. They are Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy.
And you forget the imagintion of his SNL characters. I call it debatable as to who the better stand-up is, but in terms of pure acting ability, Murphy blows Pryor away.
As for the person who claimed Pryor "paved the way" for black comdians, you should research a couple of guys named Redd Foxx and Slappy White. The 70's weren't the genesis of black standup, dude.

I heard/read an interview with Eddie Murphy a few years back where he said his kids were getting old enough to want to go see his movies, so he kind of had to change direction. Shame, because he used to be really funny.

Hey whoa whoa blueballs, that comment is misdirected...i know of the Chitlin' Circuit during the 50s, DUDE. the argument between me and tubucock concerned PRYOR. get your facts straight, DUDE.

I don't think that's the hackneyed cliche you were going for. My comment was directed at your assertion concerning Pryor, and was simply an additin to the overall conversation, not an attempt to join in on your impressively tiresome "debate."
And please try to come up with an original pun on my name. If you're going to resort to the lowest form of comedy, you might at least want to do a competent job of it. Trust me, it would do wonders in elevating my opinion of you from that of a tedious, garden variety newb.
Have a nice day.
