OK ... I LOVE La Carreta's in Hammond. The one in BR is just OK. I went to the new location in Denham Saturday night and was so disappointed. The food was OK, but there was absolutely no atmosphere, and I swear my margarita tasted like a mix.

Anyone else with a similar experience? I don't think I'll be going back.

Casa > Ninfas > Superior > Caretta

Strictly my opinion, FWIW.

I personally can't stand Caretta

I'm not a big fan of Ninfa's or Superior.

I've never been to El Rancho, but I'll give it a try. It's close to home.

Fernandos was always pretty solid when I went to eat in Denham, has it slipped lately?

I think they're all pretty mediocre but I'd probably rank them differently

I like the queso/bean dip at Caretta

I really like Fernando's. Trust me, during the entire meal at Carreta's I was wishing that we had gone to Fernando's.

I'm ranking them on the very few items I eat there. Usually steak fajitas, quesadillas, chips and salsa, and enchiladas.

It's latin, but if I'm in the mood for something of the above, Afreaux turned me onto La Reyna, HOLY COW, awesome!

El Rancho is HORRIBLE. Do yourself a favor and either stick with Fernando's or go a few extra miles to Central and try Caliente. It's in the shopping center across from Walmart. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT food

Thanks! What about the margaritas? ... cause you know they make up about 1/2 of my evaluation!

Do you even like Mexican food?

And the El Rancho place is pathetic. I usually have to suffer going there once a month with my parents b/c my dad is too damn lazy to drive out of Denham Springs. The put a ton of lettuce on everything, and the food in general just sucks. The only thing decent is the chips and dip.

I love Mexican food. I find Ninfa's mediocre at best. I've never been to El Rancho's, I was just responding to someone else's post. I like Fernando's, and I like La Carreta's in Hammond ... only the Hammond location. I think I'm going to Casa's this weekend.

I was just messing with you.
I was actually resonding to the guy who first mentioned El Rancho....and giving you a warning about it. A lot of people seem to enjoy Fernando's, though I've never had good luck eating there in regards to food quality. I do agree with the La Carreta's in Hammond; it's the only La Carreta's that has been consistently good.
