It seems like there would be a million great stories to cover. Douglas Brinkley's The Great Deluge would be a good starting point. Human drama, natural disaster, violence, death, heroism, survival. It is perfect.

Is there one in the works?

I mean a real movie - a summertime Hollywood blockbuster type. You could have a large cast with characters ranging from the Coast Guard, to meterologists, to politicians, to regular people. It could be amazing.

Seems like Brad Pitt could get behind something like that.Harry Connick, Jr. too.

I believe Will Smith is set to star in a movie set during the aftermath of Katrina.

Well, I could only imagine the Bush/republican bashing that would go on during that film.

Plus, it would almost be impossible to not piss anyone off. If they attempted to be factual, blacks, police, and even NO residents would be pissed off with their portrayal.

Yea they would make a reamke of Waterboy but the plot would be a hurricane not football.

They wouldn't show the reporter asking Ray Nagin what's his advice for people who are thinking about riding out the storm "GET YOUR arse OUT OF MY CITY!!!"

I think this is about that guy who rescued a bunch of people from the American Can condos/apartments.

It will be interesting to see how they are going to recreate flood conditions in the movie...probably a lot of close angle shots in the movie.

Let me guess, some "feel good" movie where he comes in to help some underprivileged youths? Or maybe he was a victim and is putting his life back together?

This would be conveniently left out by radical, left-wing hollywood.

I'm still blown away that the 9th ward was the only area affected by Katrina.

I really recommend 1 Dead in the Attic by Chris Rose. Also the new one by Dave Eggars is supposed to be great. Zeitoun.

Uh the movie played out on CNN/NBC/FOX/CBS from Aug 29th thru about Sept 29th so no need for some dramatization huh?
