...like one that's taking place in Oklahoma right now.

It is unbelievable. Sooners fans now are faced with the fact that their O-Line can't stop a team like BYU, their heisman QB is out for up to a month, the top TE in the country will miss the entire season,

AND

They aren't even the best team in the state right now. (I know the Cowboys are way better than this but most Sooner fans view Okie State about like we view La Tech.)

I have never heard a body of fans freak out like the Sooner faithful are on the radio, tv, print, etc. It's unbelievable.

It's just a daily reminder for me that although we just struggled on the road against UW, we aren't in that bad of shape.

It's like their delusion levels reset and recharge every year.

I posted a similar thread on the more sports board....How will Stoops be viewed if he has a 8-5 season after losing his starting QB. Their problems on the O-line are akin to our on D problems last year and we also lost our starting QB (though for different reasons).

Oh I'm not either, but they are definitely ranked a lot higher than the Sooners as of right now. And that is the most Sooners' fans worst nightmare.

And Gary Gibbs is alive and well!

No matter the circumstances, if he drops 5 games this year, the rumblings will commence. There are already a lot of people that are not happy with 5 straight BCS bowl losses.

Side note: I think it would be hilarious if OSU won the national title. I know it won't happen, but that would mean the worst possible things in the last 4 years would have occurred for Sooners fans:

Texas wins it all in '05
Miles wins it all in '07
OSU wins it all in '09???

I think the meltdown in Oklahoma will be worse if they lost several more games as opposed to the meltdown last year in Baton Rouge due to the fact that they returned so much firepower.

I know many were disappointed with 2 losses in 2006, but can you imagine if we dropped the opener, and lost JR and Bowe? That's pretty much where OU's at right now.

I was thinking the same thing, I mean gee wiz did they give this kid a scholly? Was this kid the guy if Bradford left? Surely this wan't the next heir apparent to the Oklahoma regular season juggernaut?

I do love the fact that he was rocking the mustache on national TV.

true. THEY have real problems. Right now ours are mostly mental. Some maybe there some maybe first game jitters, but Oklahoma is out of the top 10 for the first time since 06. FACT.

Everyone I know up here says they are concerned about a 70's porn star quarterbacking their team.

We lived in OKC from 1999-2001. When we got there in summer 1999, you never saw Sooner stuff. Few bumper stickers, hardly any t-shirts. We had friends from the area who had season tickets in 1999 and when they weren't going to the games, they could hardly give the tickets away.

On the other hand, OSU fans (which were admittedly few & far between since we were 2 hrs from Stillwater) showed their pride even though they had finished 1998 at 5-6.

Fall of 2000, you suddenly saw Sooner stuff EVERYWHERE. People were going ape-s%$t about the crimson & cream. Ticket prices jumped into the hundreds per game.

Thank goodness we moved in fall of 2001-- I couldn't have taken that much longer.

For these reasons, when in Oklahoma, we rooted for OSU (well before Miles even came along).
