Let's Get Down To It: It's Been Conditioning & The Trenches

over the last two seasons, injuries have exploded for us .. we look tired and worn out in the fourth quarter ... and are just plain getting whipped up front on both sides of the ball ... the offensive line has been atrocious this season ... charles scott was mentioned in the heisman conversations in the preseason but was finding a wall of bodies almost everytime he touched the ball ... no running game + a scared, young QB = disaster ...
sure, this team may very well finish 10-3/9-4 .. but you have to look ahead at where this program is headed ... we won the national championship in 2007 .. nick saban took over an alabama program with a dying talent pool in the same season ... in two short years, the tables have turned on us up front ... i really don't think this staff is recruiting as well as we think they are ... our marketability on the recruiting trail has taken a huge hit .. saban and alabama are on the upswing, lane kiffin and UT are moving up .. bobby petrino is getting his act together at arkansas and dan mullen isn't half bad at mississippi state ... in the world of "buy" and "sell" on the recruiting circuit .. les miles has brought us to a "sell" in two short seasons ..
what has happened to our conditioning ?? under saban, the program was a stickler for the offseason weight and conditioning program ... saban's teams were going to be fresher and stronger than the opposition in the fourth quarter ... that has suddenly drifted away too and we have gotten hit with the types of injuries that poor conditioning leads to ...

Alot of what you say has some validity but the S&C coach is the same one Saban had & tried to get him to go to Alabama with him.

then why in the hell are we tired with little to no life in the fourth quarter .. no pressure on the QB .. even sending 6 and 7 men we are not getting there ..

exactly .. this is what i can't understand ! this starts and ends with miles .. he isn't staying on top of the strength and conditioning off season .. there's only so much moffit can do ... he is only going to condition the team to the level his "boss" expects ..

That showed when we played Bama IMO. They definitely had the upper hand in that department.

If you even THINK about criticizing Moffit on here, be careful...

there was NO doubt alabama was the better conditioned team in the second half .. that is why saban started feeding the ball to mark ingram .. he knew there was no way the d-line or linebackers get a hand on him ..

It's the Head Coach, that's where the buck stops, and he's making big bucks right now.

once again, at the end of the day, he's only going to do what his "boss" tells him to do ...

and you have to wonder how much animosity has seeped in amongst the players and staff ... you know most of them realize miles is NOT worth that much money and is basically luckier than a montana lottery winner to get all of that ..

i agree he makes too much money to be a screw up

Absolutely agree with Tiger Rag and Stout and was going to post similar comments asking what, if anything changed this year in the conditioning regimine. We looked worn down (offense and defense)within the second quarter! against Bama. Florida's entire team looked "tighter" and more nimble than our guys.
- I seem to remember Saban introducing Palates or Yoga during the off season. Is that still in place?
- Definite fan of Moffit and know what he's capable of, but interested to understand if the conditioning program changed over the past year

I agree with the original post.
Think about the Bama game. It used to be LSU who casued the other teams to cart people off the field all game long. Now we hvae a long list of injuries just in the past 3 weeks. This week, we'll be down to the 4th string RB from the beginning of the year.
Teams are psuing us around at the LOS. Its been going on all year.
