I'm taking a Pre-colonial Japan class. We're starting with the very early origins, Shinto, etc and the teacher is so hard to understand, he's old and is a low talker. Extreme low talker. I read the books but Id like a visual to compliment the lessons. If anyone knows some pretty informative ones, let me know.

I've watched Princess Mononoke to get me pumped for the class. Forgot how good it was, definitely recommend it. Last year, Caterpillar had a Samurai movies thread. I have Seven Samurai on Netflix next. Looking forward to it.

I've been interested in Japanese History documentaries for quite some time now. Well that is, until recently. The first and only documentary that I've seen involving the Japanese had some pretty cruel and surprising, to me anyway, footage. I didn't realize the extreme hatred they had for dolphins, and most of all didn't realize this was caused because they actually believe the dolphins were responsible for Hiroshima being bombed in 1945.

I figured all Japanese history (at least the documentaries made in japan) would end around 1943...
