I need to bring a cake to a potluck at work next week and won't have time to bake. Any recs for places to pick one up? Leaning more towards grocery store prices than Ambrosia et al., but interested in all recs. Thanks!

The Happy Baker on Perkins in Prairieville just opened. They can literally make any size and type of cake you'd like.

how many people? you can get a round 10-12 inch cookie cake at albertson's for 10 bucks. they will also write whatever you want on it for free if you walk in and pick one out that has already been decorated.

if you order it ahead of time, wal-mart and sam's makes fresh cakes. better than some wedding cakes ive tried. you can get single layer full sheet for 30 bucks if you want a bigger cake.

What else do they do? Do they make their own bread?

Yes, about 95% of everything there is homemade. They do beignets, stuffed crossaints, cheesecakes and other cakes by the slice, etc. Also serve homemade frozen coffee, brewed teas (pretty much like a CC's or Starbucks, but much better!). They serve breakfast starting at 6 a.m. as well. Enough seating for a good crowd. No I do not work there, but I am a regular about 6 days out of the week.

Go to facebook and pull up "Joy of Cakes" We had one of theirs at a party and it was the best.

I think that she is in Denham!

Sam’s. Different sizes, round, square, rectangle, cupcakes, etc… Great prices and tastes good too. Stay away from the “dream whip” topping, tastes nasty. Call ahead and they can customize it for you.

The banana split pie is a fantastic deal from Gambino's. It costs under $15 and weighs about 3 lbs.
