BP wrong again, only siphoning 2,200 BPD

this at least the 5th time BP has "just happened" to be wrong.
1. "the well isn't leaking"

4. "we closed the BOP and significantly cut the flow of oil, Sen. Shelby"

5. "we're sucking 5k bpd out of the riser"

BP has a long track record of shady/unsafe practices. Unfortunately their practices are going to cost a lot of people their liveliehoods, money, jobs and overall way of living for a good period of time.
I wouldn't believe anything they say at this point.

The optimist's view is that it seems as though they are giving the best estimates on the situation as they find them out.
I don't quite understand why they couldn't figure out how much they were pumping out, however.

probably a metering correction off of the separators, later corrected by measuring volume in the tanks.

It seems like they should have dipped the tanks before releasing anything...seems like a fairly simple process to me: Dip the tank and write the number down and calculate volume. Come back a day later and dip the tank and write the number down and calculate volume. Subtract the first number from the second and divide by 42!!!

i don't disagree, especially given the scrutiny that comes w/ any number you would report.

Can you imagine the hysteria that would have gone down if they didn't release the info for 24 hours? This place would have been in full on melt down and I think this is one of the most reasonable boards that one can even imagine.

Ok, then dip the tanks once and then 3 hours later and then multiply by 8 before dividing by 42!! The point is that they should have dipped the tanks instead of relying purely on flowmeters.

It was well know that the volume was going to decline. The sand is tearing up the seals for the tube. They have two more ready to go already on location.

Are you guys serious? THey are fricking lying!!! ALot!
They want to act like they are capturing alot so they don't have to fess up to larger amounts they have to clean/answer for.
It is simply save however much money in damages they can now. They care of nothing else.

Oh, please. You have no clue how hard it is to get good numbers in the first place.
It's a certainty that they will "spin" the numbers as best they can, but they aren't going to cook the numbers themselves when the whole freaking world is watching.
