Is that true. A buddy of mine and three other families (4 families total) had rented a camp in grand isle for the whole summer. Well, when the oil spill hit the lady called them and said she would give them all of their money back if they wanted out. The wife said hell yea whats up and after they cancelled the lease the owner of the camp says some company offered her $200.00 per bed per night in that camp. Camp sleeps 15 people. That is some freaking jack rite dere! Anyone heard of anything like this.

Several camps are renting in Cocodrie for $1000-2000 per day. Sportsmans paradise has been contracted for $125/man/day for food and lodging for 200 persons.

ETA: also heard that no one is being allowed down Cocodrie unless they are involved in the clean up. Cocomarina is also rented out and is a staging area.

Grand Isle was struggling Real Estate wise before this. This Oil Gush could effectively finish them off. Friggin Sad

Yep. My brother in law manages a camp in Venice and that's the business they are in now. Not quite as glamorous as Tuna fishing, but it is what it is.

I would imagine BP must have some contact info. The one I know that is rented for $2k/day the owner knew someone involved in the clean up efforts.

How many men can your camp sleep? Can you add additional bunks?

I am a property owner in Coco Marina and would tell them where to shove it if I wasn't allowed to my camp.

If you go down there any time soon let us know if it is just a rumor or if in fact they are limiting un-necessary traffic.

Sleeps about 8 to 10 people. Have plenty of room for additional bunks.

I imagine BP will eventually just bring in those big barges that have living quarters on them and house everyone there. That way they will be able to keep costs down.

My pops is headed down this weekend, I am stuck in BR doing the Bayou Country Super Fest....

He was down there last weekend and Glover told him BP was bringing in Barges this week to start housing people. Not sure if that happened yet!

They are bringing a 350 man quarter barge down there next week. Rental on that unit is $30k per day. There will be quarters barges lined up along the coast from Venice to Cocodrie

Nothing new.
I rented my place in Lower Garden District after Katrina. They offered me the same $199 per night that hotels were charging at the time.
Well, add it up per month, it was quite sweet.
Naturally, Ive called those folks who rented my place to see if they are yet activated to go to Gulf Shores. Ive offered them my place over there.
So far they have not been sent there yet.
