when deciding to switch conferences?

i.e. Suppose the overwhelming number of Aggie fans prefer the SEC over the Pac-10, should that influence the decision in any way? Do you think it will?

They should, but probably won't.

The only ones they will listen to are the big money donors. Average Joe that loves the team will still watch them. It would take a HUGE groundswell of regular fans to sway a decision.

Obviously, yes. Football is entertainment, and you are competing for the entertainment dollar. If you refuse to give the customer what he wants, they might stop spending their dollars on a less entertaining product. Alienating your alumni is usually a bad idea.

only way you can hurt the schools is if the fans don't buy seasons tickets and don't watch the games. No fans are willing to do that though.

I tend to agree with you, which is why I don't think the powers that be give two shits about what the fans think...because they know they are going to support the team regardless.
