All is Right in Heaven

I was born in Waskom Texas, less than 500 feet from the State line between Texas and Louisiana. By definition, that means I am a Native Born Texan. I have actually lived in both states. I am proud that I am both a Jack arse and a Coon arse. I graduated from high school in Louisiana and attended and graduated from LSU. One of my sons in law graduated from Texas A & M while another attended Texas. One of my daughters recently graduated from the Harris College of Nursing at TCU. She is a proud Horned Frog. I currently live less than 30 miles from Waco (home of Baylor) and less than 70 miles from Austin, home of the Horns. The PAC 10 does not want Baylor nor does the SEC. Hell, the Mountain West is not even an option. I do not anticipating seeing the Bayou Bengal in Floyd Casey Stadium anytime soon. I am sure they could fit in the WAC or C-USA. Waco claims 1,600 jobs will be lost and over 200 million dollars will be lost. Oh well, I guess it sucks to be Waco right now.
There is a lot of "rumors" circulating lately about conference realignments. Regardless of what you may or may not think or even want, "what will happen...will happen".
I will tell you what WILL happen. Read on and find out.
I am a die hard LSU fan. I bleed purple and gold. I believe that the SEC is light years ahead of all other conferences and would like to think that it shall always be that way. I would love to see the Horns, Aggies and Bears from the Big XII join the SEC. Three football stadiums less than a hundred miles of me with my beloved Tigers playing in them every other year..... It would be awesome. Sadly,it is not meant to be.
1. Baylor is a small private "Baptist" school. It was a fluke (actually a political manipulation) that they were ever included in the Big XII.Their day in the sun is over and I see the school slipping deep into a consolation league TCU still feels they were "slighted" as a result of Baylor back when the Southwest Conference imploded. Read up about it and you will be assured that TCU is indeed correct. Baylor has been worried about Armageddon. They need not worry about it. They just need to realize it is upon them.
2. Texas University is an amazing school. No one will differ that it is not only a leading academic institution but that it a true leader in sports. Their brand is either the best or one of the best around. I love Austin. It is the live music capitol and a very progressive and eclectic town. They are steeped in tradition and have a championship mentality. They may not always win the championship game...but they get to it. Yes I did enjoy seeing the purple and gold dog pile in Omaha last year as the boys in orange faced towards Austin and sadly sang "The Eyes of Texas..." Although I never have loved the Crimson Tide, I enjoyed the "beat down" handed out at the National Championship game.
The move of Texas to the PAC 10 or what ever number they end up with, is actually a brilliant move. Texas gets it's cake and it gets to enjoy it too. There has never been a true "league like" feeling to games between Texas and K-State, Kansas, Iowa State, or Colorado. Even the Nebraska games seem as something sort of odd. The move to the PAC 16 would keep the Texas rivalries, delete Baylor that never should have been there to begin with, and add the new brand (ie USC, UO, Stanford, UCLA etc.) Although a bold move, it is truly a great move. The Big Ten may look good on paper and Texas could compete in the SEC (maybe not win as often), but the PAC 16 is "the shitz".
3. Gig em. So now comes the Texas Aggies and they seem to be a hiccup in the great plan of Texas. The mighty SEC seems to be courting the Ags pretty good and depending what you read or what you want to to believe, Texas A & M will be removed from it's healthier Siamese Twin sister(TU). If you read on you will see how there are those who are already selling tickets to Houston's Reliant Stadium for the "Bayou Classic". Teams such as Va Tech, Clemson, West Virginia, North Carolina, Duke, FSU, Miami and Missouri have all been mentioned as possible new members of the SEC. There has even been some serious talk Oklahoma may be joining the Aggies in the SEC. The "play" of Texas and the PAC 16 would appear to not only be in doubt but actually could be a bad thing.
Well...as a native born Texan let me put you to ease.
You do not get to as successful as the University of Texas by making mistakes. Trust me, the "plan" was well thought out and the posturing of Texas A&M with the SEC was anticipated.
Recently I posted a remark on my facebook page that indicated that there might be a chance that the Aggies would join the SEC family. One of my friends, an Aggie Alum, stated and I quote "It is not about following Texas and it would be stupid to break that up. There is no game that Aggies get up for than that one.It would be unwise to use a non conference game on them every year to keep it intact" It seems that Texas has stated that should A&M not do as Texas wants them to do, then Texas would cease the annual game that is mentioned in the play "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". Lets see.... a single game that is so traditionally important that you blindly follow another school thus losing millions of guaranteed income, rather than give up a game with La Tech, Florida International or Sam Houston State?
Only an Aggie could understand such logic.
The Ace up Texas' sleeve is the Texas Legislature and former Aggie Yell Leader, Governor Rick "Gov for Life" Perry. After those two get through with this matter, not only will Texas A&M join the PAC 16 but they will gladly get on their knees and do a "Lewinsky" on them.
So there you have it. Texas will get it's "way", Nebraska will be happy in the Big Ten. Kansas will find it's way to the Mountain West Conference while their former league members Iowa State and K State flounder until landing in some lessor league. Mizzou will be left out to dry and poor Baylor will still be lamenting years from now.But in the end result....all will be right in heaven. Oh, by the way, The SEC will continue to be the best conference in the country.
Ok I admit this is still an LSU message site so let me insert something else. Give Les a break guys. He may not always do his job perfectly but damn he sure makes it all fun. He is the only coach of the Tigers, that I can recall that truly has a personality and after all... are not we all just wanting to be entertained?

Thats just fricking stupid. Texas killed the SWC and then went to tht abortion known as the Big 12 where Oklahoma has thoroughly outdone them on the football field (6 titles to 3) and now A&M has the votes to tell Texas to go Hell if they want and Texas is going to a conference where, despite their arrogance, they DO NOT fit. Yeah despite what people IN Texas think, Texas makes plenty of mistakes.

Right. I listed my reasons. How about yours Einstein? Come back with an argument. That response is nothing short of pathetic. The fact is Texas's threat to not play A&M in football reeks of 'I'm taking my ball and going home.' A&M threw Texas a serious curve and Texas whiffed, now they're down in the count and getting desperate. The Pac whatever the hell will last about as well as the Big 12 did (which, despite playing much better football, couldn't figure out how to market itself as well as the Big 10). Texas will figure out that just being in the same conference as USC will give west coasters no additional reason to watch them play without serious interlegue play and a championship game.
Edit- I saw your A&M sig, so you may not have meant to respond to me. If you didn't, ignore this
