Utah is the big winner of Conference Expansion 2010 and it isn't even close.

no question

even with the current Pac-10 contracts, which suck and are going to be renegotiated, they have an almost 10 fold increase in TV revenue and then BCS and bowl revenue on top of that. Huge gains for them and their program

It is indeed a great day for Utah fans, and for the school. We have been anticipating this day for many years now, and finally it has come to fruition.

A great day.

All along it was said that rivals wouldn't split. A and M wouldn't leave Texas, Okla and Okie State etc. Utah ditched BYU right away (and I guess more power to them)

None of the other rivals had the choice to leave a non-BCS conference for a BCS conference; they were already in the big time.

The prize of an automatic BCS bid greatly outweighed being in the same conference with a rival.

It's one of the fiercest rivalries in all of college sports. They will continue to play each other.

Do they instantly become a favorite to win the conference this year?

They already recruit well, especially the pac. islanders from all over the west, Hawaii, etc. and now they can tap into SoCal more.

Verrry Interesting. The Utes' stock just increased tremendously.

Correct. I worked with a guy from Utah. Whenever he needed me to change his password (he was on the road constantly), it was always some variation of the 2004 "Holy War" score: Utah 52, BYU 21

And they will. As I posted in another thread...it now encompasses conference supremacy bragging in addition to State bragging rights.

This is probably the one game that will stay intact. I haven't heard one way or another but I'm sure they'll keep in it place. BOR meeting and announcement is scheduled for tomorrow and I'm sure someone will ask.
