1. What is the attire required?

2. What is the suggestion to order?

TIA

Atleast dressy casual. I wouldn't go without atleast a sport coat.

Ask the waiter what is the best for an entree. Appetizer of gnocchi and crabmeat is hard to beat. The staff are professional waiters and should not let you down.

If you're doing dinner, I'd say put on a suit.

Glass is right about the gnocchi - it's just a wonderful appetizer.

They've been doing their fish entrees very well lately - last time I went, the lemonfish and risotto was fantastic stuff.

Chef Besh and his staff are definitely NOT over-rated...

Thanks - will def go with the gnoochi and get a waiter's suggestion for entree.

Only other Besh restaurant I've been to is Luke. Been wanting to go to August for a while now. Looking forward to the experience.

In television production, maybe.

But, August has always been solid.

Let me at least caution you on one thing - stay away from something that is wrapped in bacon.

I had rabbit at August once, and it was terrible due to the above.

He advertises using Benton's bacon which is wonderful on its own, but incredibly smokey in flavor. I can imagine pairing it with something like rabbit, which is rather delicately flavored on its own, would definitely overpower the dish.

Sure thing...and just one other shameless recommendation for dessert - the Pere Roux Rum Cake is absolutely awesome. Costs like $10 or $11, but it's well worth it.

Also, the tasting (degustation) menu there is fantastic.
I would probably wear a sport coat or jacket.
I was last there in Jan 08 and it was terrific. Enjoy yourself!
