Alright guys, I am drafting in the 1 spot and I have Chris Johnson frozen in the 5th round. I now have a huge decision to make. Do I take AP and not take another Rb until like the 10th or do I take Andre and go for a value back in the 3-4 round. Help a brother out.
ETA: PPR league.

Take AP and have the two best rb's out there.
get a wr with the entirety of the rest of your draft

What the hell kind of league does anyone end up with CJ and AP?

I drafted him in the 9th round his rookie year. We freeze and you have that player two rounds above where he was drafted. I froze him last year in the 7th and get him this year in the 5th and next year in the 3rd. Once they get to where they would be your 1st round pick, you have to let them go.
Back to the question, so the majority would think take AP and just take nothing but WRS and a QB after that.

The only question you should be asking yourself is whether you take AP or MJD(if he's not being kept)
You can get WR's in your 2nd and 3rd rounds
You can get WR's in your 2nd and 3rd rounds

I'm not certain AP is the pick. I'd go MJD or Rice in PPR league.
I'd also be hardpressed not to take AJ there, considering you have CJ..

yea get the best two runningbacks out there and then focus on wr's and wb's picking up a another running back or two on the way as insurance/bye week. if you have a flex you might think of picking up another good running back with that flex.
Andre johnson is way too much of a stretch to pick at number one and there are way too many good quarterbacks to take a qb at one.

Rice is being frozen by someone else, as is Pierre Thomas, Flacco, Rodgers and either Jennings or Shaub.
I am almost thinking about MJD just becasue of the PPR. And yea, AJ may be a stretch but to say that I would have the best WR and best RB wouldnt be a bad thing, regardless of where he is picked. Also, if I dont take AJ then the guy who has Shaub frozen will get him. I mean, AP is projecting 16 TDs with over 1300 yds, PPR or not, thats beast mode.

we do freezes too in our league. I will not disclose the round that I have CJ frozen in but it is a double digit round. We have a salary cap for keepers and each year a player is kept their "salary" goes up so I can't keep him forever.

You can't think of it as a stretch or reaching. You aren't picking the 1st overall pick. You are essentially picking the 11th or 13th pick (pending on teams in league).
I'd feel more comfortable looking to fill a #2 WR and #2 RB on a weekly basis, rather than a #1 and #2 WR each week.
On the next turn, realistically you could end up with McCoy, Grant, Best. Benson etc and a WR the likes of Rice, DJax. Colston. Smiths, etc
that's a solid 4 to build your team aroud.

I did a mock draft earlier and took AP 1. In the 2nd/3rd I took Colston/Austin. Then when it came back to me in the 4th I took Ocho. So after 5 I had CJ, AP, Colston, Austin, Ocho. We have to start 3 WRs, so I wasnt upset with my draft there. Im doing one now with AJ as the 1 and see what pans out.

To think that a team MAY have AP and CJ on it could be nasty. Hell, you wouldnt even need a backup. Just pick up a RB for bye weeks based on match ups.
