My dad just called me saying that we are in the middle of trading Peja for dalembert. He's got some connects in the FO, and rarely says shite like this. So take it for what it's worth

I wouldn't mind that at all, but I'm not gonna get excited yet until I know it's true.

Let me repeat, I'm not saying it's a done deal or that it's true. Just that my source has a connection with someone in the FO so this holds more weight than usual.

I'm not high on Dal but it's basically trading an expiring for an expiring. Only we would actually get value out of this expiring THIS season. If this goes down the Hornets FO is basically saying "we're going to let the expiring salary come off the books in the face of the new CBA"

I can't see him starting over Oak. He'd be a solid bench contributor.

I think with dalembert at C would be like TC in 07

Would be HUGE for us. I think that would make us VERY legit.

But why would Sac do this? When Dalembert comes back from injury, he does them some good, Peja does not. Also, they are both expirings, so I don't understand what Sac gets out of it.

I'll believe it when I see it.

That trade makes the most sense. They have too much young talent up front to develop to let Dalembert take up minutes. Plus there is the Peja Sacramento factor, and this trade happens early enough that both teams still have big expirings to trade at the deadline if Peja or Dalembert doesn't pan out. The Hornets front court will be much better off with a starting caliber center at the backup.

Yeah that's why I'm thinking this won't go down. No incentive for Sac.

Same here. If I were to guess more pieces would be involved

Maybe a Willie green or MT5 and a Thompson or Whiteside

Already back and pretty ineffective so far. Averaging 2 pts and 2.5 boards in 11 minutes after 2 games. This trade from Sacramento's perspective would be much like the Hornets trading DTDB last season. You do it because you aren't going to the playoffs and have a young stud that needs minutes. Also frees up minutes for Whiteside.

Only thing I can think is they have way too much young talent that needs to be developed behind Dal. He's old and won't be with the team next year, they are better off getting their young guys playing time. Coupled with the nostalgia of Peja finishing his career in Sacramento?

Dalembert just turned 30 last month.

Did they rush him back? I heard he was going to be out awhile longer.

I can't see them adding Thompson even for Thornton or Green. Landry will be leaving too so that'd give them a front court of just Cousins and Whiteside. I could see swapping Smith for Thompson if we sweetened the pot a bit, but either Thornton or Green is too much and a 2nd rounder may not be enough, but that's all we have to work with.

Dalembert for Peja works on TradeChecker, as does Dalembert/Thompson for Peja/MT5.

Pretty sure Dalembert/Thompson for Peja/Green would work, but Green can't be traded yet.
