My fiance and I are looking into Houma's House as an option for our wedding. One of our main concerns is that the food be awesome, since most of our guests will be coming to Louisiana for the first time. We want to be sure they get a great first taste of Louisiana cooking.

I know the restaurant is awesome, but how is the catering side of things over there? TIA

I was just there for a dinner at the restaurant and overheard wedding guest saying how the food was excellent.

That will be a beautiful location for your wedding. I had no idea it was there. If I had I would of had my reception there.

Top notch for reception food. Best place in S LA for an outdoor wedding IMO.

Agreed. I wish it was close to New Orleans because that would be my number 1 choice.

For the price it should be. Around $150/person if I remember correctly.

got married there a year ago..best money i ever convinced my father in law to spend. The entire experience from start to finish was awesome. Cecily (the planning chick)is great. We went to just about every plantation in South Louisiana and none of them compared to the experience that Houmas House offered. To take a tour of the grounds and have a talk with Cecily and Kevin, you wont regret it. How many people by the way?

We're planning on 400 or so. The plan is to meet with Kevin in the next couple of days and book if we like what he has to say.

I've been to one reception there and the food was some of the best I've ever had at a wedding.

wow...i think we had like 200 or something. Just curious because the number of people you have dictates which reception area you have.

That's a house down payment. You should stop discussing reception food and start discussing eloping.
