Big Les knew 2010 was a season of transition and posturing all along. Miles knew all along that the QB issues were gonna keep us from having a serious run at the SEC and National Championships, so he took a big picture perspective looking at 2010 and 2011, which included:

1) Pick a QB and ride him. Hope he grows and gets you to 10 wins. Compliment him with the other guy only as it is really needed. JJ was his guy.

2) Give Crowton a chance to prove the 2007 season was the norm for GC one last try - but Miles knew without a seasoned/strong QB, this was not gonna happen. So, big Les said to himself, unless he shows me something significant, I'll do what I did with the Co-DC's, and let him finish the season and let him bow out gracefully on his own. This helps me to lure assistants since it shows how considerate I am as a man to work for.

3) Learn from mistakes. Fix the Oline and QB issues for the next 3-5 year span of time.

4) politic behind the scenes to get the exclusive prime time coverage of the Cotton Bowl against an opponent we match up well against, and build to a top 10 finish to posture for 2011.

5) Recruit like a mad man.

6) Show he is a man of integrity and honor his committments.

All of this was to use 2010 as a posturing year for the 2011+ window of time where LSU becomes a major threat to win SEC and Nat'l championships with an all-round roster of talent and experience, and with A or B caliber coordinators and assistants.

Big Les plays chess. He sucks at fast, real-time video games, and has learned to hire folks to play those roles in real-time while he sticks to the big picture, where he has succeeded in riding out the storm, improving the player and coaching rosters, gotten a contract extension, and has us in prime position to make not a one year run at it all, but now has everything in place (after Crowton replacement) to be postured for a legit chance to win it all in each of the next 3 or 4 years.

We are loaded, folks. We are very well postured, folks. We have acceptable coordinators (or will soon with new OC) who can situationally make us super. We have as good of talent ACROSS_THE_BOARD as we have ever had, and for a 3+ year span of time. We are postured, folks.

We are led by CLM, the big picture man. We are LSU.

We and he (CLM) have weathered the storms that were the 2008-2010 seasons.

We will be champs again soon.

Geaux Big Les and geaux Tigers !

and i agree that the next few years should be GREAT

While I'm glad Les is our coach, I think you may be giving him too much credit.

LSU has gone from being the laughing stock this year, to giving us a reason to be our normal rowdy selves, and travel across the country this fall talking shite we can back up.

LSU is a powerhouse program. LSU will finish top 5 the next 3-4 years

while i agree to some of your thought, i don't think miles or anyone is that devious and exact in their planning. things are simpler. he had no choice but to keep crowton and give him one more year (with one more yr on his contract) and no choice except to try to develop a qb on the present roster (no coincidence that was crowton's job). certainly one of his scenerios was to can crowton if it didn't work out and sign all the qb's he could. however, we did make a serious run at the SEC championship and therefore the NC. if we would have beaten auburn we would have been front and center in those discussions. this team is close, damn close to a return to the promised land. yahoo!

I seriously doubt he had even half of this planned out. Nobody knows the future and that includes Les Miles.
