Pancake Pantry is really good for breakfast.

We also went an ate at the Apple Barn and that was good too. If you are looking for good BBQ try Bennett's BBQ. The Old Mill restaurant had great food too...really large portions.

Find somewhere to go horseback riding. There are lots of places around there. Try to find a place that will let you run the horses.

Also, a game you can play is to find a restaurant that DOES NOT serve "Country Ham".

I love Gatlinburg I guess because I have spent so much time there. Everyone on here is above it though.

There aren't many great places to eat but there are some good ones.

The best breakfast I've had there was the Pancake Pantry on the parkway in the village. It is awesome. Usually a line but worth it. There are tons of other choices, and all are probably good, but this is the best.

Caligula and Corkys are two of my favorite BBQ places there. Huck Finns is a good place. It's seafood, home cooking type stuff in Pigeon Forge. Fanny Farkle is a corn dog place that you'll smell for miles that is good. Nothing special, it's just corn dogs. Not many other places come to mind to recommend. There is a Fridays, Bubba Gump, No Way Jose Mexican, Hard Rock, and plenty of similar type places.

I went for New Years and it was pretty crappy. Tourist hell is right. A bunch of pancake houses, old times photo shops, and crappy hillbilly dinner shows. We had the best time just hanging around the cabin where the hot tub was.

We've been to Gatlinburg twice and have stayed away from the strip there and in Pigeon Forge. My husband loves to cook so we ate almost all of our meals in the cabin.

We did go to Asheville to see the Biltmore and ate at Tupelo Honey at the downtown location. That was a really good lunch!

Is the Peddler still there? Last time I went (about 6yrs ago) I had a decent steak there.

Ate there on my honeymoon in 1993. Was the first "grown-up" restaurant meal I ever paid for myself. The bill was like $52. First time I ever paid over 50 bucks for a meal. Hell, an almost large family can do that at McDonald's now!

Great steak, though.

Also, the funniest part was watching the hillbilly at the next table jabbing his keys into the bottom of the pepper grinder because nothing would come out when he shook it.

No way! That's where we went too for our honeymoon, Jan. 1993. Didn't see anything as funny as the keys in the peppermill thing though. You're right, it was a good steak. I hope it's still around.

I'll make it my mission to find some new places worth trying. I'll be back with my report after Mardi Gras.
