How many beers am I looking to drink? How often do you spend 40+ dollars at the bar that this is the ceiling that you set for a cheap night?

Yeah, I could easily get out of a bar for $40 drinking good beer as long as I avoided the really premium stuff. No Chimay Blue bombers.

This. I don't remember the last time that I drank 40+ at a bar just paying for me. You could drink 5-6 good beers at that price with tip.

40 bucks will normally buy me plenty of bud light. Especially if they're running a special on pitchers.

Never had shiner before. Sort of burned out on pbr though.

Just trying to spread out 40 as much as possible. I usually drink Sweetwater.

True, but being better than those doesn't make it good. Just a better option in my humble opinion if I'm really going cheap.

For $40 I could go through four or five Racer 5's at the Chimes and still cover tax and a decent tip.

Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA... from California, it's a pretty damn good IPA and a regular on tap at the Chimes these days. It's one of my 3 or 4 go-to beers if they don't have something new I find interesting.

It's not the hoppiest IPA out there, but it's definitely more hoppy than a NOLA Hopitoulas and WAY hoppier than an Abita Jockamo IPA.

I'd say in the grand scheme of IPAs it's on the hoppy side of things, just not the extreme.

If you like it, also try the Arrogant Bastard from Stone... same price for a pint.

Anything I wanted on the menu

I don't think most places would have a beer that cost more than $40
