Conf rank of OOC scheduling SOS 1. #PAC12 2. #ACC 3. #BIGEAST 4. #BIG12 5. #B10 6. #SEC LINK

Per Dave Bartoo @cfbmatrix

No surprises here but this is what other conferences complain about. Props to LSU though, They are ranked #14 overall for toughest OOC schedule. It'd be interesting to see the other SEC schools follow suit.

Post the entire SOS including conference games.

ETA: Naturally the SEC's SOS goes down when they play any teams outside the SEC. And the other conferences get much tougher with an SEC team on the schedule.

good for the PAC-10...four of there games a year are harder than most other conferences when 8 of the rest of their games are garbage compared to the SEC

the top SEC schools do have premiere OOC games in their schedules such as Georgia Bama and Auburn Florida and obviously LSU and have dominated those games.

The SEC WEST has as much talent and strength as entire conferences. You expect every school that has to go through that minefield to ALSO schedule multiple difficult OOC games each year? Get real. If the Pac-10 was as deep as the SEC, they would do the same thing. Its the result of common sense.

He wouldn't want to do that especially since none of the pac pussy teams would compare to a typical SEC schedule

This report is all about who you play out of conference. It's not showing the SEC in a negative light because they schedule good teams that aren't SEC teams. It's cause the vast majority of their games are with the little girls school for the blind 4 times a season.

the SEC has done pretty well in the biggest OOC game every year the last five years.

If our conference was weak like the other BCS conferences we would probably try to play stronger OOC opponents but when we have nothing to prove(5 straight BCSNT will earn a conference a certain level of respect) it is all about winning our conference and basically getting the automatic bid to the BCSNCG which over the last 5 years is almost a let down from the SEC title game.

Oklahoma ranked #1 in OCC schedule??? So, Tulsa, Florida State, and Ball state gets the #1 ranking?

They way he came up with these are ridiculous.

How are we not 1? Aside from USC we're playing TWO BCS Conference - out of conference games. (USC Big East and Big 10 bottom feeders). On top of that, they are even the Pac 12 and Big East favorites. Makes sense. Not to mention, we play the last 3 National Champions

Texas plays: Rice, BYU, @UCLA for OOC.
OU plays: Tulsa, @FSU, Ball State
Colorado: @Hawaii, @Colorado St, @Ohio State
UCLA: @Houston, San Jose State, Texas
USC: Minnesota, Syracuse, @Notre Dame

LSU: Oregon, Northwestern State, @West Virginia, Western Kentucky.

ETA: Forgot to include USC. They actually play 3 BCS schools, but Minn and Syracuse are BOTTOM FEEDERS.

"I start with the 4 year recruiting ranking average and adjust it for the schedule and then the strength of the coaching to get an adjusted recruiting rank which is the 2011 SOS numbers"

So he judges how good a coaching staff is and that figures into SOS along with recruiting classes from 4 years ago...ok, so this is a pile of shite

Apparently playing Oregon and W.V is no better than scheduling Towson and N. Texas

Let other conferences complain. No other conference has it tougher. OOC is typically a week off... deservedly.

I'd LOVE to see the "mighty ducks" go through an SECW schedule right now.

Here's what I don't get. How is Oklahoma's OOC schedule deemed harder than LSU's OOC schedule?

OU plays Tulsa and Ball State at home and the big game at Florida State.

LSU has two cupcakes, but it travels to Morgantown to play West Virginia and takes on Oregon in Dallas.

I realize some may say we should be docked points for the cupcakes but that doesn't make any sense. We still play two high quality, non-conference opponents and both games are not in Tiger Stadium. Oklahoma plays one.

I'm not belittling OU. Props to them for going to Tallahasse. I'm more complaining about the notion that their non-conference schedule is deemed superior to LSU's because of the mathematical formula that is used.

Here's how I look at it. Tulsa may be a tougher opponent than Northwestern, but OU is not losing that game just like LSU isn't losing to Northwestern. However, LSU plays two non-conference games that they very well could lose. OU only one.

Thus, I believe LSU faces a much tougher non-conference schedule than OU.

(And we're not even talking about looking at the totality of the schedule, where LSU will blow OU's doors off yet still be punished for its two non-conference cupcakes by the computers).
