Duck fan in need of a good gumbo recipe

Dear LSU fans,
I'm looking to have a good gumbo for Saturdays game for myself and several friends. I would like something that is moderately spicy if possible. I have never made gumbo before, and honestly I really have no idea what it is. I would prefer a recipe that doesn't have any duck and/or poison in it. Thank you for the help and I'm looking forward to the game in 2 days, 9 hours, 35 minutes.
Sincerely,
HungryDuck

Never having gumbo before must be a sad sad existence.
Check the food and drink board on the left side, though someone will probably help you out here.

There is one key to a good gumbo, the roux.

Check out the TD RECIPE book at the top of the food and drink board. You can drag the whole thing out and print it all.Excellent recipes for lots of stuff!!!

That's too bad...at least the poison part. Cyanide is what really sets our gumbo apart from the others.
But seriously. FoodBoard

100 degree temperature + Gumbo = "Swamp arse"

I love me some gumbo but it's generally a cold weather dish.

Man, that global warming must be out of control in Oregon.

I agree. Unfortunately it doesn't get cold here in Austin until January, so it is hard to wait that long.

This will not end well. My advice is whatever recipe you get, try it tonight so that when you inevitably screw it up you can try again before Saturday.
