Why does this not excite me?

Dont know...all i know is the ACC would be an unreal Basketball conference in this scenario!!
Posted on 9/6/11 at 7:47 pm to Buckeye Backer
I'm sure A&M will be the one to blame for this shite.

looks good to me, is there anyone who doesn't like this (other than the leftovers of course)?
Posted on 9/6/11 at 8:02 pm to Shingo
What exactly would happen to the leftovers if a playoff came into the picture though?
Posted on 9/6/11 at 8:09 pm to Covingtiger
So.........basically seven 8 school conferences?
These conferences are getting so big, they're actually getting smaller.

ACC & Left over would have a game to get in.
Posted on 9/6/11 at 8:10 pm to Covingtiger
Thats the million dollar question! What happens to the leftovers?
Posted on 9/6/11 at 8:15 pm to Buckeye Backer
Actually eight 8 team divisions. Thats what is being missed in all of this is the fact the conferences ARE basically getting smaller. The end result is a playoff system starting with the conference championship games as the first round!

You need to fix the B16 Ten so it has north/south divisions with stupid names.

I'll offer this which isn't my original but sent to me be a Texas fan.
So I read a quote from Gene Stallings recently that he wouldn’t be surprised if there were ultimately four 20-team conferences participating in major college sports and I got to thinking how I would structure those conferences if I could blow the whole thing up and start over.
66 current BCS schools + 2 major independents (Notre Dame, BYU) + 12 current non-BCS schools (Boise St., Wyoming, UNLV, San Diego St., New Mexico, TCU, Colorado St., Nevada, Hawaii, Houston, Central Florida and Temple) = 80 schools. Obviously, you could debate the schools which would be included (especially the additional non-BCS schools), but that lineup makes sense to me. Next, split the schools into four 20-team conferences (with two 10-team divisions per conference ) based on geography, competitiveness, traditional rivalries, etc. One example that makes sense to me:
WEST
Pacific Division (Washington, Washington St., Oregon, Oregon St., California, Stanford, USC, UCLA, Hawaii, San Diego St.)
Mountain Division (Boise St., Wyoming, Utah, BYU, Colorado, Colorado St., Nevada, UNLV, Arizona, Arizona St.)
CENTRAL
Plains Division (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa, Iowa St., Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas St., Missouri)
Southwest Division (New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., Arkansas, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston)
NORTHEAST
Midwest Division (Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan St., Ohio St., Louisville, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt)
East Division (Boston College, Connecticut, Syracuse, Rutgers, Temple, Penn St., Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Maryland)
SOUTHEAST
Atlantic Division (Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Clemson, North Carolina, North Carolina St., Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech)
Gulf Division (LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi St., Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida St., Central Florida, South Florida, Miami)
Have each division play a 9-game round robin schedule to determine the division champions (plus 3 non-division games per year), with the division champions moving on to play in an 8-team playoff for the national championship. The non-division champions are free to play in bowl games.
Based on this week’s AP poll, here is how the playoff might look for 2011:
WEST 6. Stanford v. 4. Boise St.
CENTRAL 8. Wisconsin v. 1. Oklahoma
NORTHEAST 15. Ohio St. v. 19. West Virginia
SOUTHEAST 11. Virginia Tech v. 2. LSU
I'm fully aware that there is absolutely no chance that this will ever happen, but I would be behind this 100% and it's fun for me to dream...

They can go between the WAC, MAC, and Sun Belt (except for Baylor which may be lucky to end up in the Southland Conference).
