Just took this from the Kleinpeter web site.
Our new gold container protects our milk from exposure to light, which can alter the taste and nutrients in as little as 20 minutes.
Read the research. Unlike clear or white containers, our container blocks harmful light rays that can change the flavor and nutrient content of Kleinpeter milk. We want to bring you the best-tasting milk we can, so that you can experience the delicious flavor of Kleinpeter milk just like it comes off the line.
Taste the difference in our new Kleinpeter gold container!

Glad to know that my dairy uses only the finest plastic.
It looks like a gallon of orange juice.

Glad to know that I've been drinking taste-altered and nutrient-depleted milk for the last few years

While true, the average consumer won't taste these imperfections, and the impact on nutrients is <1 percent. The real problem with UV light comes at the raw milk stage, pre homogenation (which Kleinpeter doesnt do) and pre pasteuration (sp).
Good marketing to the lemmings

The same reason Corona tastes skunky. The clear bottle allows light to break down the oils from the hops causing it to taste like Pepe le Pew's junk. Bottomline...Light ain't good.

I really wish dairies would start selling milk in plastic bags like they've been doing in Canada for 40-some-odd years.
Haven't schools had milk in plastic bags for ten or fifteen years now?

Single serving in a bag
Never seen a gallon bag of milk
I'd imagine you're just asking for a mess if a bag gets punctured

Schools have the single serving pouches...There's also milk in 5-gallon bags, but those are mostly purchased by the food service industry (not sold in stores).

Blocks the light, which unencumbered leads to more rapid oxidation/spoilage of the milk.

P'man, being an avid drinker of the moo as you and I are, then I will suggest talking to the man at the store as he delivers. They sell institutional bags in a box, which most will never know about. They have been around for decades, but unknown to the world at large. Big families(read white Catholics) learn this trick.

Flourescent lights are a big offender.

restaurants use 4.5 gallon bags (in a box). well, not all of them of course but quite a few

I think they are made out of the same plastic they use for Franzia.
Those things are damn near bulletproof.
