I don't think many of you realize that when Auburn rolled into Tiger Stadium in 2009, LSU did not have either Ware or the defensive playmaker that is HB7. They still won 31-10. LSU will be fine this Saturday and Simon, Ware and Mathieu will be back for the Alabama game, IF they are indeed suspended at all.

Also, you can add these guys to this list of people:
Ali Highsmith
Percy Harvin
Randy Moss
Ricky Williams
Michael Phelps
Chris Anderson
Santonio Holmes
Tim Lincecum
Rasheed Wallace
Mario Manningham
Travis Henry
Pacman Jones
Kareem Abdul-Jabar
James Howard
Sean Ellis
Manny Ramirez
Michael Vick
Lamar Odom
Corey Blount
Bam Morris
Chris Webber
Rashaan Salaam

etc. etc....

that show that you can get high and still be an awesome athlete.

I don't really see any positives here. We may not miss them against AU, but unconfirmed reports suggest that the suspensions could be extended (based upon what, I don't know).

I guess there's always a teachable moment when you're dealing with young men.

This is amazing. I guess I'm slow, but I really do not see your positives here. A maybe positive that this happened this week rather than next week, but that's thin too.

Waving a list of dopers in our faces and expecting that to make any sane Tiger fan feel positive is beyond nitwittery!

With all due respect, you are fricking crazy. What would constitute a sane tiger fan? Is it one that freaks out over whether or not an athlete gets high? Hell, it's a non violent act and something that one does in their private life. Obviously, their play was not affected as HB7 is a Heisman candidate and broke the school record for forced fumbles while SW is one of the leading rushers on the team and Simon is one of the next star cornerbacks. The list of athletes, if anything is supposed to show the hypocrisy that some of you show regarding this incident. Someone mentioned that this was a "teachable moment" for these "young men"...how is this teachable when over 70% of the NBA smokes weed, around half of the NFL smokes it, and probably AT LEAST the entire roster of the 2010 San Francisco Giants. C'mon people. This is not a new thing...frick even Forbes acknowledges that marijuana is useful for athletes. Some of you act like you were born yesterday...but let's get real. The members of the football team are PEOPLE first and foremost who respond their needs first. frick if I took or gave the hits that these players deal with, I would want to relax with a nice blunt after the game as well.

With the final thought, It is sincerely hilarious to me that most of you show up and tailgate, go to the game drunk off your arse to watch these amazing athletes play but then are so quick to denigrate them if they get high. frick. you. all. These players will sit one game AT MOST, and will be back for the Bama game. BOOK IT.

I agree with you completely.

But, everyone's argument against that will be "We're not playing the sport, they should know better" or something in that nature.

I never denied being crazy. However, just because your idea of a great way to ease the realities of your life is relaxing with a nice blunt from dusk to dawn or whatever, doesn't give you a pass for trotting out your knucklehead list as midigation for 3 of our Tigers for BREAKING a team rule and getting suspended.

I did some stupid stuff when I was in my twenties and still do. But the 3 suspended players are members of an LSU football team that's making a run at the NC. They represent the team and the University. Your list of surviving knuckleheads has nothing to do any of that.
