Where to get bizarre food

So I like bizarre foods just like the TV show. Problem is I don’t have the budget to travel around the world to try them. So any suggestions not too far from the BR area to experience some different food?

Vietnamese groceries or any ethnic groceries. I was able to get hot vit lon at a Vietnamese grocery in Chicago. Very bizarre, gf was totally freaked by it.

McDonald's has these strange things called chicken McNuggets. No one is quite sure what part of the bird a McNugget is from, and they look pretty gross to me.

You can get roasted Racoon on the side of Airline highway.
You can buy edible bugs in New Orleans at the insecterium.

You need to see the "raw" product those things are made from, never will one go in oyr mouth ever again. It is an incredible pink looking gooey mass prior to cooking in grease.

Cafe Abyssia is pretty good, went there on a whim one time. I liked it and will go again.

boudin rouge or blood boudin. Closest place I know of that has it is babineaux's in breaux bridge (north of I-10)

One of Zimmerman's least favorite foods. No thank you.

Doesn't durian fruit smell like rotting carcasses when you crack it open but taste good? I saw it on a Food Network show once.

I'm not brave enough to try it.

something like that. I've read that the smell is aweful, even to those that enjoy the fruit. Some people still don't like it, but it really depends on the variety and ripeness. Something that probably isn't managed as well over here as it is in Malaysia or thailand.

I've tried it. Yeah, it smells bad but it actually taste pretty good. Very sweet so if you are not into really sweet stuff you won't enjoy durian.
