The Big Ten is a basketball conference

Agree or Disagree?
I think of it from a talent team perspective (not so much on perception). Sure football is the money maker and that's the facade of the conference, but pound for pound, the conference is just as good as any in basketball. It's been a slow progression to much better basketball overall, and tonight with Purdue and Indiana losing at home, you see the toughness of the conference. Oh and Gus Johnson calling games on the Big Ten Network = Money.

Nah, I consider them a hockey/wrestling conference.

I mean, right now, it's better at basketball than football. But it's still a football conference. It's like saying Ohio State's a basketball school and not a football school because they're a top-10 basketball team and under .500 in football.

Maybe if the conference had picked up Pitt and Syracuse

Nah, they still have way more history with their football programs.

I tried to watch Nebraska v Penn State last night on BTN. Big Ten basketball is unbearable. Big East bbball is more entertaining than most NBA games. There conference tourney always produces instant classics.

The Big Ten this year is hands down the #1 basketball conference in America. The depth of the conference is as good as any. 0-4 Minnesota goes into Indiana and walks away with their first conference win. Ohio State, Michigan St, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin are all legit sweet 16 teams, with Purdue just hanging around as well. The Big Ten is just going to beat up on each other now, which will hurt the chance for 1-2 seeds in the NCAA tourny. Ohio State IMO is still the class of the Big Ten.

strength in basketball is really cyclical, particulary with all the one-and-doners.
it was only a couple years ago that the pac-10 was a great basketball conference, the big east was fielding 7+ teams in the tournament and the SEC could only manage to get 2-3 teams in.
now the pac-10 is looking like a 1-team conference, the big east and acc are the weakest they've been in a decade and the SEC is probably going to get 5 teams into the tournament.

Ummmmm....Those are literally the two worst teams in the Big Ten, of course that game would suck! Did you watch the Ohio State/Illinois game...or the Wiscsosin/Purdue game or the Minnesota/Indiana game tonight? GREAT GAMES!

The Big Ten may be the deepest, but their top teams are overrated as usual.

Why? The Big Ten has 4 teams ranked in the top 13. The middle of the Big Ten with Illinois, Wisconsin and Purdue give it the edge IMO.

Coming from an ACC fan? Ohio State beat Duke by 30 and our middle of the pack team Wisconsin took Carolina to the last second in Carolina. The ACC is a joke this year!

OSU is 3-2 in conference play. MSU lost to the ACC's top 2 teams ... I am still not sold on Indiana. Michigan has only beaten 1 ranked squad, and that being Memphis!

Edited ... My fault. But you get where I'm going with this. I'm just saying ... The Big East has Cuse, UConn, Louisville, Marquette, and Georgetown.

Big East has great top teams for sure but that's always the debate, because they have so many teams.
