More impressive NHL feat?

The Blackhawks' streak of consecutive games with a point to start a season, or the Kings' dominant run through the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year?
Do you discount Chicago because it's during a shortened season? Is it even more impressive because they have gotten 2 points in every game but three during the streak?
What about Los Angeles last year, dominating everyone ON THE ROAD on their way to the Cup Finals? Teams looked helpless against them.
I'm not a huge hockey guy, but I just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on this one.

I am going with the Kings just because it ended up with them winning the Cup.
You can't deny what Chicago is doing this season although I think people will discount it because of the shortened season.

Blackhawks are still over 10 behind the all time record of 35 set by the Flyers.

Kings. They were an 8 seed and I didn't expect them to have a chance in Vancouver, much less win the entire thing.
Chicago's run is impressive, but unless they win the Cup it'll be all for naught.
ETA: I don't necessarily discount their run because of the lockout, but I think it does play a part in it. There were no preseason games, so the players who didn't play internationally were just thrown back into competition. Sloppy play to start. But they're professional players beating professional players, so it's still impressive.

Chicago because they're playing more games per week in a compressed schedule.

Low seeded teams winning the Cup is not all that uncommon. And it was really a function of the Kings screwing up the regular season. They were a preseason Cup favorite. So I'm not impressed by them digging out of a hole of their own making (I am impressed by the Cup of course, but they don't get bonus points for playing a lousy regular season).
The Blackhawks are doing something historic. I'm amazed how many straight games they've gotten a point. It's crazy how well they are playing, and the only teams to play this well are among the greatest teams of all time.

I can see both sides to it, honestly. The Kings just stomped everyone last year. I remember it being a 3 or 4 goal differential in a lot of games, and they were doing it on the road. Super impressive. But I'll take your word for it when you say they were a great team all along.
However, what Chicago is doing is just insane to me right now.

Why are they going back & counting games from the 11-12 season on this record? They lost in the playoffs & not all those playoff losses were OT losses. The Flyers record of 35 games was over 2 calendar years as well but it was during the same NHL season. Seems to be making up numbers to further support this hype for the Hawks.

I only count this season. They have the 2nd longest point streak to start a season in NHL history right now. I'm with you on no carryovers.

I think they have the record for consecutive games to start a season. They are tied for most in combined seasons (not counting playoffs). Also combining seasons makes them tied for second for the longest overall.

I have to go with the Kings. I consider the Stanley Cup to be the toughest trophy to win because of the beast that is the NHL playoffs. Not to take anything away from Chicago, they have a great team this year.

Currently I'd say the Kings, winning in the playoffs is a whole lot harder than the regular season.
However if Chicago can beat Philly's record I'd have to go with that. 36 games without a regulation loss would be ridiculous, considering in the regular season teams have let down games far more frequently than the playoffs. Far easier to get up for a playoff game than a mid week game in Columbus.

Bobby Orr 120 points.

They have to win the cup. Nobody is going to remember this streak (as amazing as it is) in the long term unless they win the cup.
