While I agree with a lot that is said about ole St. Nick in this story, the writer has disconnected dots. More than once he made reference to how Nick should have taken the blame and did not offer comfort to a broken-hearted kicker receiving death threats.
Nick's post-game press conference where he did not take blame or offer comfort was mere minutes after the game. If death threats were already coming, I hardly doubt he would have known about them so soon.
And yes Alabama knew greatness before Saban, but there is no guarantee they would know it after. After all, it had been quite a few years before Saban that they had known it last.
