The top two players in the NBA are so obvious, but the third spot is tough to fill. I think there is quite the list of players that have been annointed by at least some portion of the media as the third best player in the NBA after a a good run of play.

Chris Paul
Steph Curry
LaMarcus Aldridge
Anthony Davis (I think he will be the obvious answer soon)
James Harden
Russell Westbrook
Paul George
Tony Parker
Roy Hibbert (it seems hilarious now, but when he was dominating Miami down low, people were freaking out)
Dwight Howard
Damian Lillard (might be a stretch, but after he beat Houston, the media was in love)
Derrick Rose (when healthy)
Carmelo Anthony
Kevin Love
Blake Griffin

Guys who are a bit too old:
Kobe Bryant
Tim Duncan
Dirk Nowitzki

Am I missing anyone?

That #3 spot is either CP3, Westbrook, Curry, or PGeorge. Thats it. And you cant go wrong with either of these guys imo

Paul George has looked awful at times this year.

Steph Curry was average in the playoffs.

If OKC has two Top 3 players, why aren't they more dominant?

And why were the Clippers still good without Chris Paul?

I don't think it's as clear you want it to be.

Its between CP3 and Westbrook IMO.
CP3 is a better player all around so I'd put him at 3, but Westbrook is far more dangerous

IN a brief stop before he surpases KD.

KD will probably always be the better scorer, but AD will score in bunches, and be a next level defensive player.

Westbrook over CP3. Westbrook is trying to bring back the tough guard mentality

23 and 8 is average? He outplayed CP3 that series.

But, this debate can go on for days because nobody has separated from the rest like LBJ and KD have.

It will be Anthony Davis by next year though.

Dude can't even make the playoffs. Overrated. Great players make their teams better.

PG was #3 at the start of the year.

Blake Griffin was #3 this year.

Anthony Davis will be #3 very soon.

Best player on what has been arguably the best team the past 3 years and definitely the best team that doesn't have lebron or KD is Tony Parker. He's like a hybrid between Westbrook and Paul. He's not prone to sink his team with bad decisions like Westbrook and he's owned Paul head to head.

When you take enough shots, some go in. What was his field goal percentage that series?

I fully have believed this but to see fans of opposing teams say it makes feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Look at his turnovers too. Very bad defender

44% from the field and 38.6% from 3. And he actually shot less in the playoffs than he did in the regular season.
