not looking to install anything in my boat. just looking for a good radio/boombox type speaker set up that i can take out on the boat on weekends

I would think this is a question better posted on the OT since it's more a tech question than anything.
People have made boom type ice chests which could serve a double purpose if you are interested. Best sound quality will come from a Yeti no doubt.

Ice chest radio is what we used in my buddy's bay boat til his got a system put in.

I'd recommend just installing one. Will be way better and not THAT much more $$$.
