How would you invest 100K in food/drink

I had a discussion with a friend the other day. He's the guy that we always talk about - great cook and always wants to open a restaurant - but that's all he has going for him. Can cook. He'd never make it but he told me he wanted to do something with some money that he didn't care about. Or maybe that's not right - can spare is probably more appropriate. His problem is he'd probably open a burger or sushi place. He's not the creative type and his money would go poof.
He asked me what I would do with that and I told him put it in a hole in the yard and be done with it. I honestly could not say what food/drink related I'd want to do. Find someone to make beer and float a loan? Open a coffee shop/diner? I have no desire, discipline, energy or youth for it or the loving partner who would let me piss away her hard earned money. But it was a fun conversation.
What would the board do with 100k for this industry with it not being primary? Naturally you would want a return - it's not a gift - but an investment that might make a return or might not.
Start a bakery? BR needs a good bread bakery. Another Hot Dog joint? Buy a particular food/spirits stock? What say you for discussion since I'm tired of Johnny's Pizza.
Any good investors here? Curious.

100K? Build out a commercial kitchen and rent it out on an hourly basis to food start-ups.

I think a hot dog joint with all types of regional and international variations might to well if executed properly.

I would bring a Bud's Broiler and try to stick it somewhere next to Bogie's -- be that in the Mellow Mushroom parking lot or in that Greek restaurant's space next to whatever the hell Shady's is called now.

Get a Johnny's franchise in S.LA that rivals the Monroe location.
That or stick it in a hole and homebrew for a few years until I had perfected an IPA, DIPA, and an adjunct stout. Then dig it up and go for it. Craft beer drinkers love hops and adjuncts.

BBQ is the thing that jumps out at me.
Since I don't live there anymore, I can't say for sure, but it seems there is dearth of good Mexican in BR.
High quality pizza place with a nice craft beer setup?
High end diner?

I'd find an office park that has no cafe or lunch options nearby and buy a small space and do to-go sandwiches, soups, salad, coffee, etc.

Invest in Chef Rob with a very strict contract full of restrictions.

Corn dog truck. Not crap corn dogs but really good ones with custom made meats and batters. Custom dipping sauces...

Open a bar.
A well run bar usually has a better profit margin than a well run restaurant. If he had to cook something, have 3 or 4 things one menu that any average joe you can hire can execute.
Its the F&M's model.

Poor investment Gris Gris. He would not honor the contract or restrictions. Because he can't help himself. He is programmed to sabotage success.

The correct answer here is a doughnut shop.

I would open up a 24 hour Bud's Broiler by LSU's campus.

This.
French loaves, multi grains, and specialty breads.
It can cater to restaurants first. You could expand to include decadent desserts that could also be resold in restaurants in place of the snicker's cheesecake and bread pudding.

Some of these ideas are not reflective of the parameters.
He needs a business partner to help him. Hmm. Sounds like that Rob cat.
I'm going with diner or bar with high end food.

If it was $100k I didn't "care" about: Sports bar in downtown BR with a simple (but legit) bar menu.
Max ROI: Franchise a Walk-Ons in a mid-range suburb of Chicago (Schaumburg-type area). Capitalize on the "Cajun" thing that's in now and that "Best Sports Bar in America" thing in an area that doesn't know better.
