Do you think he intervened because he wanted to avoid the optics of the buyout - as publicly stated - or he made up his mind that Alleva was a goner and wanted to give the next AD the opportunity to hire the next football coach?

The leak related to Miles imminent firing and legal actions against him from former coaches has to be a thorn in Alexanders side.

NO. Would have looked bad with all the money being thrown around even though it was all coming PERSONALLY from a handful of boosters. Especially since he has to go before the state legislature in Feb I think to ask for $$ for the university.

IMHO, the intervention happened because of all the negative press LSU was facing and would be facing for firing the School's all time great for essentially losing 3 games.

If the leaks and dumbass statements hadn't happened we'd likely have a new coach right now...

It's a sad day when people assume you did something wrong simply because you get sued.

I can sue you for reading this comment. Maybe you should be fired from your job.

I think he is an academic based leader and wanted to protect LSU from getting criticized for making the deal. Also, Jimbo could have said no... Regardless... LSU Football has been and will continue to head south under miles' leadership. And F King could have explained the private funds issue and supported LSU athletics. But he didn't. Welcome to next year U....

Of course. Our football program is important to all of us and it's descending in performance and national perception. Some of us are angry at the leadership that has resulted in the past 3 years and the poor decisions of our leadership recently. LSU football is a top program and is in dire need of change...

He interviened because he has future political ambitions and wants to protect his image. Sound familiar to anyone in Louisiana?

Jimbo said no Friday before TAMU game...FSU upped the ante. ..what you won't hear from media or LSU. We couldn't keep it quiet and it gave FSU time to have upper hand. That's the truth of it.

Tom is getting $400 million from state tax payers. WHY, when the state's budget is shot?

Should get rid of FKA. Board and TAF should have laid down the law to him. Legislature (except ULL supporters) would not hold back money because of the buyout. That is ridiculous.

Main reason right here. The guys who got JB Edwards elected and the people he answers to don't want any PR backlash whatsoever. Edwards is suppose to want to help LSU. But when you are on your knee pads everything needs to line up. Add the typical nasty Louisiana politics hot and pepper style and there you geaux!
