Waste of money unless they plan to start cheating again!

they might be better off spending the money to upgrade facilities.

Goes to show you how huge that death penalty business was in the 80's to them. They never recovered.
SMU would be a great program (great meaning on the level of Boise State and its crosstown rival TCU) if they could get a guy in who could recruit. An upscale private university in a very attractive part of the Dallas area would make me want to attend if I knew I could play right away. Once the Ponys get a guy who has a proven track record, they can go bowling once again and get back on tv and build some pride and faith up in a program that has very, very, very little fan support and media representation. I don't know of another 1-A school that gets less exposure, minus the newly acquainted with 1-A universities like Buffalo.
SMU's Dickerson/James legacy is still talked about as one of the greatest 1-2's ever. It would be great to see that happen one day. I actually thought about SMU during my senior year of high school as one of the other schools I'd apply to. I don't mind them as opposed to Aggies, Horns, and Owls.
